GAAUSBCA Awards Information

 

Service Award

 

  This award recognizes individuals who have volunteered their time and service consistently and outstandingly during the current bowling season.

  Any group or individual may nominate a candidate.   Nominations are due no later then April 1st of the current year and shall be submitted to the committee on the appropriate form and contain sufficient information and/or copies of documents or material pertinent to qualify the nominee for consideration.

 

Youth Hall of Honor Award

 

  The purpose of this award is to recognize and perpetuate the names of past and present members, coaches, volunteers and supporters of the youth program who through their competitive skills, leadership or contributions have enriched the general welfare, spirit, and reputation of the game of ten pins in the youth program.

  There are two categories for this award, Performance and Meritorious Service. Listed below are the requirements for each category:

Performance: a nominee must have participated in a youth program for three consecutive years with the two most recent years as a member of a sanctioned youth program within this association's jurisdictional boundaries and be an active participant at the time of the nomination with a verifiable book average.   Nominees must be at least a senior in high school and not reached their 22nd birthday as of August 1st of the current season. A nominee must have a record of participation equivalent to two-thirds of all possible games bowled in all leagues in which the bowler is currently registered.   Female nominees must have a minimum book average of 170 for either of the two most recent seasons or a current league average of 170 based on no fewer than 21 games, bowled a minimum 650 series and 240 game in a youth sanctioned event. Male nominees must have a minimum book average of 190 for either of the two most recent seasons or a current league average of 190 based on no fewer than 21 games, bowled a minimum 700 series and 260 game in a youth sanctioned event.   All nominees must have participated in at least three youth sanctioned tournaments.   For leagues or tournaments that bowl more than three games, the first three games each squad or level of the event bowled will be considered for the purpose of high series qualification. For leagues or tournaments sanctioned as a sport competition, nominee's averages, games and series will be adjusted by the same amount as noted in the United States Bowling Congress rule book.

Meritorious Service: a nominee must have participated in a youth program for three consecutive years with the two most recent years as a member of a sanctioned youth program within this association's jurisdictional boundaries and be an active participant at the time of the nomination.   Nominee must be at least a senior in high school and not reached their 22nd birthday as of August 1st of the current season. Youth nominees must be active participants in the local youth leaders program for a minimum of two years and must have attended at least two-thirds of scheduled meetings. The youth nominee's application must have a letter of recommendation from at least one coach or adult volunteer involved in a league in which the nominee is or was enrolled.   The letter of recommendation must address the nominee's character, including attitude during league play and rapport with teammates or other bowlers in the league.   The recommendation may also include other items that provide the committee with a portrait of this nominee's service record to the sport of bowling.

 

Hall of Fame Award

 

  This award was established to perpetuate the names of past and present members, volunteers and supporters of our bowling community who through their competitive skills, leadership or contributions have enriched the general welfare, spirit and reputation of the game of ten pins.   Consideration for this award will include current members or may be given posthumously.

  This award shall include a performance category and a meritorious service category.   Listed below are the requirements for each category:

Performance:   a nominee must have been a member of this association for a minimum of five years and all achievements must have been accomplished as a local member.   Consideration may include (but is not limited to), participation and placement in local, state and national tournaments; high average, high scratch game and series; any other accomplishments that may be deemed worthy. Female nominees, during their bowling career, must have carried a minimum 170 book average, bowled at least a 650 series and 240 game in a sanctioned event.   Male nominees, during their bowling career, must have carried a minimum 190 book average, bowled at least a 700 series and 260 game in a sanctioned event. For leagues or tournaments sanctioned as a sport competition, nominee's averages, games and series will be adjusted by the same amount as noted in the United States Bowling Congress rule book.   Meritorious Service:   a nominee must have been a member of this association for a minimum of five years and all achievements must have been accomplished as a local member. Consideration may be given to the following:

                                    a. Participation – attends association meetings regularly; works on committees, tournaments, special projects, etc.

                                    b. Cooperation - completes assignments promptly and accurately as given to him/her.

                                    c. Sportsmanship and attitude

                                    d. Promotion of bowling

                                    e. Interest in the betterment of bowling

 

Bowler Of The Year Award

 

  The purpose of the Bowler of the Year award is to recognize bowlers, who through their skills and abilities, bowl games and series over their normal potential and show good sportsmanship while doing so.   Any group or individual may nominate a candidate for selection to receive this award.   All nominations must be submitted on the appropriate form and sent to the committee.   All nominations shall contain sufficient information and/or copies of documents or material pertinent to qualify the candidate for consideration.   Applications must be postmarked no later than August 5th of the current year (e.g. Aug. 5th, 2008 for the 07-08 season) to be considered for selection.
